Why isn't the UK doing extremely well (compared to other developed nations)?

A major factor is that the population has risen 20% in the last 10 years because of the the last governments open door policy, this has driven wages down , its not helped by our current governments insistence on giving billions to other countries while making massive cuts to our own spending budgets
