Tax ramifications of renting our owned condo out so we can rent a larger home for our growing family.?

Cannot afford to sell our condo at the moment because of the market. Need more room. what will the downside be taxwise for us as a small family if we rent a home and let out our condo? We will lose our mortgage deduction and have to report the rent as income? any advantages?
