What does this mean? What was he doing?

Me and my boyfriend broke up about two weeks ago. Yesterday I was really upset because I found out my boyfriend was cheating on me too, one of my best mates came over because he wanted to comfort me. After he cheered me up he tickled me because he knows I hate it and I practically collapsed on the sofa then he moved in a position on top of me to carry on tickling me, but the thing is when he stopped tickling me he just stayed sat on top of me, and it was weird for both of us but kinda nice too, Then later on, after we both got up I put on a film for us to watch and we sat there, pretty near to each other and then he moved his arm to be around my shoulder and when I realized I looked round and asked what he was doing, this isn't usually how he acts. He got all jumpy and made an excuse to leave and he hasn't called or been around since. I did call his mobile once this morning but there was no answer. I have no idea what he was trying to do, if this was comforting me or beyond that. I've known this guy for two years and completely trust him and he makes me laugh, but at the moment I'm confused as hell :/
