Tie rod & ball joint replacement, how urgent?

Very little but some play in wheels (when shaking them) when gaging tie rod movement. About a half inch of play. No noise when driving or when moving (shaking) the wheels to see how much play. 94 Infiniti G20. When driving, no shaking or vibrating of the steering wheel. No noise from the wheels (clunking, clicking or however you want to describe it) while driving and turning. I know the best idea is to have them replaced but strapped for cash. I know the ramifications of not changing them (when they are super worn, bad) but they don't seem urgent to me (yet). Looking for opinions from folks that know this stuff. I know a little bit about cars but this I don't want to risk. Appreciate all good help. Thanks!
