Why do Americans think socialist government doesn't work?

They arent socialist. They are a mixed economy. They have government regulation to some extent, but the businesses are privately owned for the most part. And the reason we dont like socialism--GREECE and SPAIN. Theyre going under, and I dont think that they have enough time to save themselves.
